Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 978 Special guest Rivka Edery	Wednesday 12/03/2014 8pm EST, 5pm PAC	Tonight's special guest is Rivka Edery, MSW, LCSW, from NYC, a survivor of childhood abuse on every level, who is intimately familiar with the challenges of surviving, and thriving, in the aftermath. Grateful for the spiritual recovery of the 12 Steps of AA, she's also the author of the book “Trauma and Transformation: A 12-Step Guide." Rivka explains. "I experienced complex trauma as a child, and most acutely, I experienced attachment-loss trauma as my parents were mired in their own problems. They were completely unavailable, and I suffered in excruciating silence." She goes on, "My childhood included an unfortunate intergenerational transmission of trauma, and I was not alone in my suffering and torment. I constantly wrestled with why bad things happen to innocent children, most notably: what actually happened and why, and other questions that seem to have no answer to. I also developed a resiliency and intuitive insight into people that I will always be thankful for." These days, Rivka is a highly intuitive, sensitive, licensed clinical social worker. With her new book, "Trauma and Transformation: A 12-Step Guide”, Rivka establishes herself as a first time author specializing in trauma recovery and spirituality. She has been active in the treatment and recovery field for over seventeen years. "As an adult, I am infinitely grateful for the spiritual recovery of the 12 Steps of AA, as it brought me directly to my root spiritual and emotional issues," Rivka says. "The most urgent issue for me was an intense and core sense of being disconnected from my Higher Power. While I now understand this to be a common issue with adult children of complex trauma, I was not emotionally connected to this truth, until I became ready to face it."

Adult Survivors of Child Abuse Anonymous	NOTE: The NAASCA non-profit follows these same 12 Traditions but not the 12 Steps	Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon ASCAA unity. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority -- a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern. The only requirement for ASCAA membership is a desire to recover and heal from childhood abuse and trauma. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or ASCAA as a whole. Each group has but one primary purpose -- to carry its message to the adult survivor of child abuse who still suffers. An ASCAA group ought never endorse, finance or lend the ASCAA name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose. Every ASCAA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions. ASCAA should remain forever nonprofessional, but our service centers may employ special workers. ASCAA as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve. ASCAA has no opinion on outside issues; hence the ASCAA name ought never be drawn into public controversy. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities. .
