Mary Beth Holzwarth became a child sexual abuse survivor advocate after two of her sons disclosed being sexually abused by their uncle in 2009. Following sentencing, she began to see how difficult recovery was for victims in their rural area due to lack of resources, and also was astounded to see how often children are sexually abused and yet no one was talking about it.
Determined to make a change, she founded Endeavor 52 and began organizing events and trainings to spread awareness to adults and professionals in surrounding communities, also teaming up with law enforcement and domestic violence shelters. She became a part of a group consisting of two survivors, a legislator and several professionals to draft Jolene's Law which was passed unanimously in South Dakota in 2014 and established a task force to study the effects of child sexual abuse and create changes to better ensure the recovery of victims. She has continued to act as a parent's voice and support the task force during every meeting.
Most recently, she joined with a group of like-minded people and they formed the CSA Survivor Force (Child Sexual Abuse Survivor Force), a national media outreach group that is a part of Stop the Silence®/NAASCA. |
Through this campaign they are bringing their stories to all media sources in hopes to empower other survivors to tell their story, and ultimately educate adults and prevent children from being victimized.
Mary Beth is available to speak to children and adults in a variety of different formats from professional PowerPoint presentations to implementing the new “What If” Dialogue game, to helping organize trainings in your area, finding other professionals to fit your needs, or any other way you may need assistance. She encourages you to contact her via phone (605) 769-0817 OR email at (endeavor52@hotmail.com).
