Valerie is a CEO of Professional Technologies Consulting, Inc., specializing in healthcare information technology. She is a longtime survivor of child sexual abuse. Her business travel has allowed her to personally connect with survivors throughout the US as well as in the UK.

Val is a member and volunteer for survivor and advocacy groups including NAASCA, RAACE Foundation and Shattered Canvas. While each organization shares a common thread of dealing with aspects of child abuse and survivors, each has a unique approach and valuable insights. Val is a regular panelist on the Stop Child Abuse (SCAN) sponsored by NAASCA. She has begun publicly speaking to groups of survivors, woman's groups, school groups, local media (see the story: www.wusa9.com) and virtually anyone who wants to know more about CSA or needs support as a fellow survivor.  All of her work is on a volunteer basis as she believes that no survivor should be denied a voice.

Among her other works, Val has started a blue ribbon art campaign, where she paints a blue ribbon in her signature and asks recipients to donate to Child Abuse advocacy groups in exchange for her art. She invites other artists to join in this effort.

In her memoir The Monster's Game: A Poetic Look at the Child Behind the Mask of a Survivor, Val reveals her story of CSA through poetry.  Published under the pseudonym of Littlegirl413 in hopes of protecting those that she loves, it was written as the beginning of Val's healing journey. It was later published in the hopes of helping fellow survivors, enlightenment to those who have not seen the effects of CSA and a warning to predators (the monsters) that survivors are finding their voices and know them by name.

Val has also been published in the following anthologies: Purple Sparks: Poetry by Sexual Assault Survivors by Stephanie Y. Evans & Sharnell D. Myles and Letter to a Monster by Caroline de Chavigny. As the Community Assistance Chairperson who sits on the Board of Directors for The American Citizens for Italian Matters (ACIM), Val promotes activities with St Vincent Residential Center and Villa Maria School in Timonium, Maryland. The children served at these events are high risk children, many of whom from abusive and neglectful homes. She also uses her position on the board to also bring awareness of issues of CSA other forms of child abuse to the community.
