Thursday
05/23/2024
Q & A call-in discussion with a survivor professional, using an OPEN MIKE forum. We'll feature a survivor-professional co-host who'll field topics brought to the episode by you, the listener. ~~ Tonight the special co-host is Monica Boglin from Puyallup, Washington, a survivor of sexual, physical, and emotional child abuse. Her predators were all family members, and her parents were intent on passing on to Monica the behavior that their parents had done to them. She also has lived with Lupus since she was 29, a painful autoimmune disease that has long been linked to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Monica became a life coach and a therapist and notes, “I've finally found a way to forgive the unforgivable and to firmly keep anyone and everything harmful out of my life been linked to." She's earned her Masters degree in metaphysical science and counseling and is well on her way to earning a PhD in the same field. "I hope to further use my story as a way to become of service and to help those along the path to their own healing, because I now know that hope and help is available.” ~~ On these episodes we welcome various co-hosts, and survivor-professionals who'll assist in fielding questions and lead a variety of topics suggested by our call-in participants. Their trauma-informed perspectives as survivor-professionals will help them guide discussions on the issues of child abuse, trauma, and healthy human sexuality that spring from questions and topics brought to us by our listeners. ~~ Everyone's invited to engage in tonight's show. ~~ Please visit the NAASCA.org web site.

Special guest Kim Bergman
Wednesday
05/22/2024
Tonight's special guest is Kim Bergman from Kansas, a survivor of child sexual abuse by her gymnastics coach. The abuse she endured had a profound impact on her life, relationships, and future career as a social worker in child welfare and legislative advocacy. Child protective services substantiated her abuse, but the District Attorney didn't press charges. He continued working with children until he was arrested 10 years later. Kim attempted to help, but information from her forensic interview or police file could be used due to the statute of limitations. In 2018 she joined the national lawsuit against USA Gymnastics. While lawsuits may compensate victims for damages, they more importantly force organizations to create changes to keep kids safe. Joining the lawsuit helped to find her voice and become a voice for others. After years of keeping quiet about her abuse, she decided to go public after she was contacted by a local reporter. She began telling her story on the news and became a member of the RAINN Speakers Bureau. She works with a group of survivors to remove the statute of limitations in Kansas and is one of the co-organizers of Protecting KS Children from Sexual Predators. In 2023, they passed a bill that removed the criminal statute of limitations for child sexual abuse and extended the civil statute of limitations which allows more time for survivors to file a civil lawsuit against their abuser. They work locally and nationally to educate about child sexual abuse in communities, safety tips for families, and the need for statute of limitations reform. Everyone is invited to engage in tonight's show. Visit NAASCA.org website or call 646-595-2118 to join our live panel.

Special guest Cherie White
Thursday
05/09/2024
Q & A call-in discussion with a survivor professional, using an OPEN MIKE forum. We'll feature a survivor-professional co-host who'll field topics brought to the episode by you, the listener. ~~ Tonight the special co-host is Cherie White from Covington, Tennessee, an anti bullying advocate and author of three books who uses her own story of being bullied and gaslighted to help those enduring the same abuse today. "In 6th grade I began a long lesson in the human predator/prey dynamic and a battle for my dignity, safety, and my very soul." At first she took the physical beatings, name-calling, and abuse. Cherie was a victim of what is called 'poly-victimization'. In just six months she went from being a kid who always made the honor roll, to an angry and bitter girl who made only C's and D's. "Who could concentrate on schoolwork?" she asks. Cherie attempted suicide at the age of fourteen. "Because I felt powerless, I began to bully those who were even weaker than me in attempts to grab back some of my power." ~~ On these episodes we welcome various co-hosts, and survivor-professionals who'll assist in fielding questions and lead a variety of topics suggested by our call-in participants.

Special guest Lang Martinez
Wednesday
05/08/2024
Tonight's special guest is Lang Martinez from Ventura County, CA. Sexually abused and raped as a young person, Lang has struggled to heal from the trauma of alcohol and drug addiction ever since. Martinez has built a reputation for himself as a homeless advocate who came from the same streets he still walks, through now his head is held higher. His methodology is frequently shared and written about in newspapers and magazines such as the Washington Examiner, VCRreporter, Monticito Journal, Fillmore Gazette, Vc Star, Citizens Journal, La Crescenta Valley Weekly, Keys To Recovery and much more. His peer-to-peer approach has cemented his name among others homeless advocates all over the country. Although his entire adult life has been marred with risky behavior, drug addiction, imprisonment, and homelessness. He is learning everyday and understanding that his past isn't the lock, but the key to life he has today, Lang has a career, a relationship with someone that loves him and an unwavering passion to help others. Today, Lang shares his story of what it takes to recover from sexual abuse and addiction. He'd been left homeless and dead on the streets. But today he has surrounded himself with God's Angels who won't let him fall, and who believe Lang can survive. He came from Skid Row, but is now spiritually seated at the front row of God's Love and Forgiveness. He is No Longer a candle blowing in the night searching for his destiny. Today he's found his salvation and finally lives in peace. ~~ Everyone is invited to engage in tonight's show. Please visit the NAASCA.org website or call 646-595-2118 to be a part of our live panel.

Special guest: Victoria Kelly, MN, survivor-professional; various topics, stories.

We have a single purpose at NAASCA, to address issues related to childhood abuse and trauma including sexual assault, violent or physical abuse, emotional traumas, and neglect .. and we do so with only two goals:

1)  educating the public, especially as related to helping society get over its taboo of discussing childhood sexual abuse (CSA), presenting facts showing child abuse to be a pandemic, a global problem that affects everyone.

Special guest Penny Lane
Wednesday
04/24/2024
Tonight's special guest is Penny Lane from Mill Valley, California. Although she looks like a strong, vibrant woman, a happy wife and mother with a successful career, underneath she is a damaged survivor of child abuse. Her young mother died of cancer when Penny was six months old. Her sister raised her until she was four when the father, whom she did not know, took her to live with his new wife who never wanted her. The stepmom was cold and told Penny that she was plain, unattractive, and ugly. She was required to help with the new baby, but nothing she did was ever good enough. She could only eat what she was given and slept on a worn cot in a hallway. She was always hungry. As the stepmom's arthritis worsened, Penny had to take on housework as well. The mom snuck up, slapped her hard across the face, hit her with a wooden spoon, or a pot, pushed her head into a wall, or used the belt buckle on her bare bottom, yelling how stupid, lazy, and good-for-nothing she was. Penny's father was never home to witness the beatings, and the step-mom tempered her malice when others were around. If Penny told anyone, the mom would beat Penny more and call her a liar. Unfortunately, the abuse continued for 15 years, because she could not see she was being abused. Everyone is invited to engage in tonight's show. Please visit the NAASCA.org website or call 646-595-2118 to join our live panel. Website: www.pennylanewriter.com/ Facebook: www.facebook.com/Pennylanewriter

Special guest Victoria Valentino
Wednesday
03/27/2024
Tonight's special guest is Victoria Valentino from California. Ms. Valentino was an acting student in New York's American Theatre Wing. Born in Hollywood during WWII, she was raised in Connecticut. When she became Playboy's Miss September 1963, it radically redirected her life and career. She was a multi-rape, child, and domestic abuse and sex trafficking survivor by the age of 21. As a struggling single mother to a racially mixed son, she became an actress, a Go-Go dancer, folksinger- songwriter to make ends meet. She opened the first Playboy Club on the Sunset Strip on New Year's Eve 1964. In 1969 on the day she was celebrating her recording contract with Capitol Records, her six-year-old son drowned in her music attorney's swimming pool in the Hollywood Hills. Several weeks later, she was drugged, kidnapped, and raped by Bill Cosby. Victoria became a Registered Nurse and specialized in Home Hospice; Ms. Valentino has been in many magazines and news articles. Today she lives in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains with her dogs and a big orange cat. She's a keynote speaker, sexual assault activist, and mentor to survivors of rape and sexual assault. Accepting many awards. She looks forward to more crocheting, gardening, cooking gumbo, spending time with her six grandchildren, and just maybe, writing her next book. Ms. Valentino is quoted as saying, “I feel as though I'm just beginning to live my real life.” ~~ Everyone is invited to engage in tonight's show. Wednesday
03/20/2024
Tonight's special guest is Tanisha Bankston from Mississippi. Her life changed before it began at the age of 5 or 6 years old when she was raped by a friend of the family, and I wasn't believed. This caused her to go into a shell and lose my inner voice. She was instantly overtaken with fear of what had happened to me. The damage done to her caused her to have to relearn how to walk. She continued to experience pain from an early age before she could enjoy life. She was taken away from her mother and was separated from her siblings; how she endured so much pain, shame, fear, self-doubt, and a lot of confusion; dreaming of being that little girl growing up playing with Barbie dolls and one day being a model, and how that didn't happen for me. She endured so much pain from her childhood to her adulthood. ~~ Everyone's invited to engage in tonight's show. ~~ Please visit the NAASCA.org website or call 646-595-2118 to be a part of our live panel.
